The Brief

Fineline Flooring was appointed to supply and install new flooring within the busy booking hall at Southampton Central Train Station for South Western Railway, delivering a durable, attractive flooring solution designed to withstand constant daily footfall.

The project began with the application of Ardex DPM 1C surface damp proof membrane, followed by Ardex NA latex smoothing compound to create a smooth, stable subfloor ready for installation. We then fitted Amtico Signature luxury vinyl tiles in Worn Oak (AR0W7390), providing a contemporary wood-effect finish that combines the appearance of natural timber with the durability and low maintenance required in a high-traffic transport environment.

The completed installation has transformed the booking hall, creating a welcoming, hard-wearing entrance for passengers while delivering a practical flooring solution that is built to perform in one of the region’s busiest railway stations.
